Ryan Slobodian, BA, MC, CCC, RCC, CSAT

Ryan received his degree in Psychology from the University of Calgary in 2014 and started his career in the not-for-profit sector working with youth and families struggling with addiction. After completing his graduate studies in Counselling Psychology, Ryan moved to Nanaimo on Vancouver Island to work as a therapist at a residential treatment center, and later became a clinical supervisor. In 2021, Ryan decided to specialize in treating sex addiction and trauma, and trained to become a Certified Sex Addiction Therapist (CSAT), where he met Dr. Adams. Ryan quickly became passionate about treating enmeshment and started working with Dr. Adams as his supervisor.

In 2022, Ryan started Mana Counselling and Recovery, an outpatient clinic in Nanaimo focused on the treatment of addiction and trauma. Enmeshment is Ryan’s favorite area of practice – seeing clients break free from burdensome guilt to authenticity and passion is always a special process to be a part of. Ryan says that it’s an honor to be a part of the shifts and growth that take place in the workshops – it’s something that can’t be replicated in regular individual or group therapy.

In addition to being a CSAT, Ryan is a member of the British Columbia Association of Clinical Counsellors and the Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association. Ryan is a Level 1 and 2 trained EMDR therapist and has trained with Dr. Gabor Maté in compassionate inquiry.

During his free time, Ryan enjoys surfing the waves of Tofino, hiking the rainforests of Vancouver Island, and spending time with his friends and family.
